Eight members of D&T’s Middle Distance Squad earned county selection and contributed to respectable team placings for Hertfordshire at the South of England Inter Counties Young Athletes cross country championships, held at Oxford’s Horspath venue.
Once again, Sam Burnell and Indira Patel were the top finishers for D&T, placing within the top-30 out of the best cross country runners in their age groups drawn from 19 counties across the south east, from Cornwall to Norfolk.

The U15 girls also raced over 4k, and Stella Whitlum and Grace Hucknall suited up for Herts, finishing 75th and 90th out of well over 100 girls in the race.
Isabelle Jelfs and Brooke Evans made their debut at the Inter Counties level, and ran well in the U13 girls race, held over 3k. Isabelle finished 47th out of 111 girls, and was second across the line for Herts, while Brooke finished two seconds back, in 51st place, placing third for Herts and helping the county team to 10th position out of 20 teams.
