The Eastern Young Athletes League (EYAL) provides a good level of
There are currently about 25 clubs that are competing in the EYAL. Clubs play in a round-robin system at 5 different fixtures throughout the summer with a Cup and Plate final for the top clubs (finishing 1-6 and 7-12). Scoring is points based rather than medal based. Athletes score points for each event (1st=6, 2nd=5, 3rd=4, 4th=3, 5th=2, 6th=1, no athlete entered=0) and scores are added up to decide the winner of the match. So it is a combination of athletes doing well and ensuring we enter every single event. For each event and age group (u13, u15, and u17 Boys and Girls) there is an A and a B competition and we can enter 1 athlete for each. There are also non-scoring competitions where athletes compete but do not score points for the club (a great way to get experience!).
