Strong Performance For Philly In Birmingham

he Saturday Session at the British Championships in Birmingham saw Dacorum and Tring athlete Phillipa Lowe take to the track in the 800m. Despite not being Philly’s usual event it provides her with a good fitness indicator on the back of some good post injury training.

Competing in Heat 2 she had a very strong start and soon broke away from the rest of the field with Ellie Barker and Mhairi Hendry. The bell saw all three in close quarters but with 100 to go Barker and Hendry pulled away to take first and second respectively with Philly coming in third with 2:07:32.

The final heat was the fastest of the day with the final qualification place for today’s final taken in that heat and edging out Philly. The championships were a good test to where Philly is in terms of fitness and speed for her more familiar 400m. By the evidence of the past two meetings she can move forward with confidence into the new outdoor season.

Well done Philly a fantastic performance.
