Records fall as indoor season begins with a bang

The Lee Valley open today saw both Marli Jessop and Ralph Williams break club U17 60m hurdles indoor records and produce qualifying times for the England Championships.

In Race One in her age group Marli ran 8.97, then upped the pace to see her home in 8.96 in Race Two to take the club record which stood at 8.99.

Then Ralph, who already held the U17 men’s club record with a time of 8.88, took to the track.  In Race One he ran 8.84 and then followed up with 8.75. Ralph is currently recovering from a knee injury so his record breaking time is even more impressive

Marli then returned to the track to run a 60m flat race and recorded a PB time of 8.00.

Also competing in the U17 age group was Samad Ibrahim who ran a PB of 7.82 in the 60m. His previous PB from indoors was 7.99.

The indoor season is great preparation for outdoors, we will be posting future indoor events so keep an eye out for race dates.
