Middle Distance squad powers through tough Trent Park NWLL course

Report by Jonathan Edwards, team manager
The third leg of the North West London XC League was held at Trent Park in Cockfosters on Saturday 25th November on a traditionally testing course that is a very challenging test for competitors at this stage of the season.
Despite those conditions, the Middle Distance squad’s results were very encouraging and reflect the improvements we have been seeing in training.
Stand out performances were:
 – Stella Whitlum who was second in the U13G’s event. Stella is having her best season and is looking stronger with every race (The main photo shows Stella leading the field in the U13 girls/U11 boys race)
 – Michael Armstrong, third in the U15 boys. Michael is proving to be as tough a competitor over the longer distances as he is over his beloved 800m.
 – Amy Cassidy, fourth in the U15 girls. It has been noticeable that Amy’s improved commitment to training at the right intensity is starting to reflect in her race results.
The U11 girls team had very encouraging performers from Milla Walsh, Evie Light and Poppy Webster.
Thank you to all for taking part and, as always, a special thank you to parents for your “devotion to duty” and especially to Mike Fryer for deputising so effectively as team manager.
