As Mike Dunphy’s talented Middle Distance squad head towards the final matches of the 2017 track season, two athletes have stood out for their record-breaking results over the 1,500m distance in recent weeks.
Olivia Edwards (U13) and Kristian Imroth (U17) have each broken long-standing records with times that have propelled them into the top ranks of young middle distance runners in the UK.
Kristian ran a blistering 4.10.16 at the Watford Open meeting last week to grab a new U17 club record at the distance, breaking the previous best set 33 years ago, by Richard Willetts at Crystal Palace.
Olivia, for her part, ran 5.07.20 late last month at another Watford Open match, to break the U13 club record set 25 years ago by Sarah Fensome, also at Watford.
Mike’s squad have worked hard over the past months, setting PBs at a number of distances and helping the club place strongly at EYAL matches throughout the season. All the best to them as they aim to further improve their performances and represent their club at all levels!
