Dacorum & Tring AC’s Road Runners had a successful outing at the third and final instalment of the Hatfield 5km race series, with near-perfect running conditions paying dividends for the nine athletes who took part, with two club records falling and some impressive PB performances.
The Hatfield 5k race series is expertly organised by Garden City Runners and attracts some of the county’s best runners, resulting in some seriously fast times across the various age groups.
Road Runner Kate Rennie (pictured above) scored a series win as she completed a trio of victories with her first-place finish in the women’s race in a speedy 17:54 – fast enough for 29th overall out of 205 finishers.
Next in was recent member David Olima who continues to improve at an astonishing rate. His time of 18:33 was a new club record in the ever competitive VM40 category.
Sam Fawcett continued her comeback from injury with a solid sub-19 minute run of 18:56 to place as second senior lady.
Chris Kitchener finished in 19:40 with Becky Fawcett running a course best of 21:33 to finish fifth senior lady, while Louise Flower matched her PB and finished eighth senior lady in 22:07.
Phil Pugh ran a very well paced race to beat his own VM60 club record in 22:15. He was chased in by Andy Mitchell who also earned a PB with his 22:20. Nigel Wiggins completed the D&T line up with a time of 23:28 meaning a course PB for him.
The D&T ladies team finished in second place in the overall standings of the three races, just behind the large team of North Herts Road Runners.
Well done everyone !
