Important information about the proposed relocation of our track

A letter to the D&T club membership from club chair Mike Smith regarding the proposed relocation of our Jarman Fields track.

Dear Dacorum & Tring AC members,

You may be aware of the ongoing discussions around the proposed relocation of the club and facilities within the borough of Dacorum and that this process is currently at the consultation phase.

The clubs committee have discussed the proposals at great length and as much as we are in support of any initiatives that will improve and secure our long term future we are concerned that the plans, in their current state, are not fit for purpose.

For example:

  • Parking facilities
  • Access
  • Track design

None of these obstacles are insurmountable but unless we have a significant voice at the consultation these issues might not be addressed. As such please see below a link to the consultation –

The link provides a plan of the track / facilities as well as the option to complete a survey on the merits / challenges of the relocation. We are already having talks with the borough council and we are pursuing other avenues to ensure that any new facility is fit for purpose. Nonetheless, we cannot be complacent and we are asking all members to visit the consultation page, have a look at the plans and then complete the survey – if the majority of our members complete the survey, and mention the problems around parking, track design and access, then those concerns are more likely to be addressed.

Thank you.

Mike Smith, club chair
