20 new Track & Field Club Championship bests set in 2017

Congratulations are due to all our athletes who took part in the 2017 D&T Track & Field Club Championships this year – both the Club Championship held at Jarman Park last weekend and the 3000m / pentathlon Club Championship in July.

Special mention must go to the 15 club members who achieved new D&T Club Championship best performances in 2017. This talented group of athletes set 20 new records – 10 each for the mens/boys and womens/girls teams.

The most prolific record setter on the women’s side was without a doubt our U17 multi-event star Amelia Woodnick, who set three new Club Championship bests this year, while U17 middle distance standout Kristian Imroth, not to be outdone, also set three Club Championship bests for the men.

In fact, our U17 athletes have excelled this season: of the 20 Club Championship bests set in 2017, fully 11 of them were set by this group.

Olivia Edwards (U13) takes the crown for youngest Club Championship record breaker, with her superb 2.34.8 in the 800m, while Malcolm Sargeant (VM70) continues to prove that age is no barrier to success, as he posted two new Club Championship bests this season, to go with his six all-time VM70 bests set this year.

All of the men’s/boys’ Club Championship best performances came on the track, while the ladies set five in the field, with Milly, Amy T and Amy W throwing their way to new records and Marli and Amelia jumping to new bests.

Well done to Denise for posting the only women’s vet Club Championship best, where she ran in the same race as her son Luke in what may have been the only event to award medals to a mother and son pair!
